Rag Pickers Feeding & Rehabilitation

Each week, 300- 500 rag pickers are provided with nourishing meals in designated areas. This initiative not only addresses immediate food needs but also serves as a platform for meaningful interaction and support.

During the distribution of meals, Hope for Today actively engages with the rag pickers through personalized conversations. These interactions help build trust and understanding, allowing the organization to assess their needs and challenges more effectively.

A select number of rag pickers are identified for rehabilitation through the program. These individuals are chosen based on their potential and willingness to participate in training and skilling opportunities. The rehabilitation process includes:

  • Skill Development: Providing training in various vocational skills that can enhance employability and open new career opportunities.
  • Education and Support: Offering guidance on basic literacy, numeracy, and personal development to ensure a comprehensive approach to their growth.

Once equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge through the ReHand Program, these individuals are prepared to enter the workforce or start their own ventures. The goal is to help them transition from a life of scavenging to gainful employment or self-employment, thereby improving their economic situation and overall quality of life.
